Meetings to focus on public transportation

The future of public transportation in the Las Vegas Valley will be the subject of four informational meetings at area malls between Feb. 20 and March 27.

Projects featured at the "transportation fairs" will include the proposed fixed guideway system, expanded Citizens Area Transit bus service, general street and highway improvements, the Spaghetti Bowl expansion, the Las Vegas Beltway and the proposed California-Nevada Super Speed Train.

Representatives of the Regional Transportation Commission, the Nevada Department of Transportation, the Clark County Public Works Department and the city of Las Vegas will be on hand to explain the projects and answer questions.

Here are the dates, times and places of the fairs:

* Feb. 20, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Feb. 21, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Belz Factory Outlet Stores (Green Food Court), 7400 Las Vegas Boulevard.

* March 13, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and March 14, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Meadows Mall (Sears Court, first floor), 4300 Meadows Lane.

* March 20, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and March 21, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Boulevard Mall (Disney Court), 3528 S. Maryland Parkway.

* March 27, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and March 28, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Galleria at Sunset (Robinsons May Court, first floor), 1300 Sunset Road, Henderson.

A Spanish-language interpreter will be on-site for the fairs. All malls are located on CAT routes.
