Brief: Department gets new director

Tom will succeed Charles Horsey, who has been acting director in the $92,000- a-year job.

Horsey will return to his job as administrator of the state Housing Division.

The director oversees more than 19 agencies that range from consumer affairs and insurance to financial institutions, agriculture and the taxicab authority.

Tom, who has been working for Norwest Bank in Minneapolis, will take over the job in the next week.

Norwest had acquired Primerit.
