Movie industry unveils LV guide

A guide designed to put out the Las Vegas welcome mat for Hollywood film production companies made its debut today.

The 1999 Las Vegas Entertainment Perspective provides a snapshot of the city with information and statistics of use to the film industry.

Included in the 42-page book are lists of conventions and events, tourism and visitor demographics, climate and transportation information, production resource and cost material and a membership list of the Entertainment Development Corp., which produced the book.

The EDC, a private, non-profit company dedicated to economic diversification through the promotion of the entertainment industry, plans to put the book in the hands of Hollywood producers and directors at a private reception in Los Angeles on Thursday.

Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones and former Gov. Bob Miller and entertainers Wayne Newton and Drew Carey are expected to attend the reception, which has a guest list of more than 200 Hollywood decision makers.

The Perspective, which will be updated quarterly at www.edclv.com and published annually, also includes an EDC membership list, which includes local businesses hoping to accommodate film production companies.
