Nicole M. 'Lisa' Alsteens, 21, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 2, 1977, in Pueblo, Colo. A resident for 10 years, she was a student.

She is survived by her mother, Peggy Sue Smith of Pueblo; her father, Mark A. Gentile, one brother, Jason Anthony Alsteens, and her grandparents, Ray and Pat Gentile, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service was scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Guardian Angel Cathedral, 336 Cathedral Way. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., handled arrangements.

Ova Ayers Jr.

Ova Ayers Jr., 74, of Kingman, Ariz., died Monday in Kingman. He was born April 29, 1924, in Tribbey, Okla. A former Las Vegas resident for 15 years, he was a retired slot mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Faye; one son, Ronald Ayers of Kingman; one daughter, Sheila Ayers, and one brother, Glen E. Ayers, both of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Polly Davenport of Las Vegas and Mildred Bryant of Alexandria, La.

Luis Barreras

Luis Barreras, 84, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 8, 1915, in Havana. A resident for 24 years, he was a retired laborer.

He is survived by his wife, Bernardina; one son, Luis E. Barreras of Southgate, Calif.; one daughter, Elvira Ferreiro of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Darnell Brown

Darnell Brown, 38, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born March 29, 1960, in Wichita, Kan. A resident for 28 years, he was a Clark County firefighter for 10 years, a member of the Unified Firefighters Association, coached Pop Warner football for many years, was a member of the Nevada Youth Football League and the Professional Black Firefighters Association.

He is survived by his wife, Yolanda; three sons, D'Anthony Brown, Savonta Porter and Devin Brown, and his mother, Earnestine Peoples, all of Las Vegas; his father, King Brown of Wichita; two sisters, Sandra Peoples of Las Vegas and Kim Tuggle of Wichita; and four brothers, Keith Brown of Los Angeles, Kevin Turner of Ventura, Calif., Buck Brown of Wichita and Barry Turner of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in True Love Missionary Baptist Church, 1941 N. H St. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

David Cohen

David Cohen, 76, of Henderson died Thursday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 14, 1923, in Indiana. A resident for many years, he was an auto parts store owner.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; and other family members, all of Indiana.

Bonita Manis Cornett

Bonita Manis Cornett, 59, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 24, 1939, in Michigan. A resident for 35 years, she was a biochemist at APL Labs.

She is survived by one son, Sheldon Cornett; two brothers, Byron Manis of Glasgow, Ky., and Wayne Manis of Hickory, N.C.; and two sisters, Sylvia Doring of Simi Valley, Calif., and Hester Chambers of Madisonville, Ky.

Jachelle Winter Curran

Jachelle Winter Curran, 7 days, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 11, in Henderson.

She is survived by her father, James Curran of Boulder City; and her mother, Rochelle Rose of Henderson.

John F. Edwards

John F. Edwards, 78, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Deer Park, Wash. A resident for four years, he was a welder and a World War II Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline; one daughter, Kathy Sunderland of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; and one sister, Mary Ann Edwards of Sylmar, Calif.

Russell Leroy Ellah, 62, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 9, 1937, in Canada. A resident for 36 years, he was a self-employed mechanic.

He is survived by his companion, Mitzy Cooper; one son, Russell Patrick Ellah; one daughter, Wendy Susan Andrade; four brothers, Charles Ellah, Robert Ellah, Donald Woolnogh and Richard Woolnogh; three sisters, Lillian Morningstar, Linda Porcino and Connie Rodgers; and four grandchildren.

Alka Eveleigh

Alka Eveleigh, 79, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Pikeville, Ky. A resident for 28 years, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Jude's.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Kerr of Henderson and Judy Terzino of Las Vegas; one sister, Georgia McClure of Roseville, Calif.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Marie Fill, 58, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born March 5, 1940, in New York. A resident for 11 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband William; two sons, William Fill Jr. and Francis Fill; and one sister, Fay Anselmo.

Anthony D. Funches

Anthony D. Funches, 33, of Las Vegas died Dec. 23, 1998 in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was born July 22, 1965, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by one daughter, Antrece Perkins, and one son, Anthony Funches, both of North Las Vegas; his father, Johnny Lee Hal, two brothers, Johnny Hal Jr. and Jonathan Hal, four sisters, Jolanda Hal, Lisa Hal, Linda Hal, Rhonda Davis, Jonetta Hal and Jena Hal, and his grandmother, Lousetta Hal, all of Las Vegas.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. A private burial will follow.

Leona Kathryn Moore Head

Leona Kathryn Moore Head, 88, of Knoxville, Tenn., died Tuesday in Knoxville. She was born Dec. 10, 1910, in Buck, Okla. A former Las Vegas resident, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Gwen Harvey of Coarsegold, Calif., Mary Darlene Boardman of Knoxville and Deryl Hess of Dallas; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 1:30 p.m. today in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St., followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., handled arrangements.

Norman Kelso

Norman Kelso, 65, of Las Vegas died Feb. 11 in a local hospital. He was born June 5, 1933, in Cleveland. A resident for 38 years, he was a retired engineering company manager, a Korean War Air Force veteran, a member of Masonic Lodge 49, a retired member of Operating Engineers Local 12, a volunteer for Sierra Health Services and a chapter adviser for New South-Order of DeMolay.

He is survived by his wife, Maj-Lis; two sons, Terry Kelso and Wesley Kelso, and one daughter, Lisa Benjamin, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Sam Kelso of Las Vegas and Don Kelso of Manti, Utah; two sisters, Melba Douglas of Bristol, Okla., and Betty Vondas of Salt Lake City; and one grandchild.

Graveside services were scheduled at 12:40 p.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., handled arrangements.

James 'Bob' Kimbrough

James "Bob" Kimbrough, 68, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 6, 1930, in Houston, Miss. A resident for 28 years, he was a retired real estate broker and a Korean War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Susane; three sons, Tony Kimbrough of Trabuco, Calif., Brad Hadley of Tustin, Calif., and Miguel Kimbrough of San Diego; one daughter, Cynthia DePaul of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Richard C. Largo

Richard C. Largo, 61, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1938, in Hawaii. A resident for 12 years, he was a truck driver and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Adela; his father, Ted Redoble; his mother, Antonia C. Gomo; two sons, Richard-Kevin Largo and Richard Largo Jr.; three daughters, Lorna Mae Largo, Lori Ann Largo and Marlene Largo Ikene; six brothers, Arthur Luna, Anthony Luna, Rudolph Largo, Gary Largo, Leslie Largo and Amor Luna; five sisters, Sola Vincent, Geagia Keawa, Lori Kamakele, Terry Amora and Luna Trippett; and two grandchildren.

Richard 'Kelley' Maxwell

Richard "Kelley" Maxwell, 39, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born March 12, 1959, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a welder.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Barbara H. and David M. Kent, and one brother, Michael E. Clarke, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Jack Patton

Jack Patton, 62, of Boulder City died Tuesday in Los Angeles. He was born March 29, 1936, in Moundville, Ala. A resident for 43 years, he was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, an Air Force veteran, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the National Association of Letter Carriers.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; three daughters, Lisa Ray of Seattle, Kelly Pearson of Boulder City and Carrie Little of Las Vegas; one son, David Patton of Las Vegas; three stepsons, Perry Imes and Kevin Imes, both of Phoenix, and Chris Imes of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Boulder City Cemetery.

Catherine Agnes Proodian

Catherine Agnes Proodian, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for 15 years, she was born in Newark, N.J.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; and two brothers, Eugene Gary O'Hara of Las Vegas and Richard F. O'Hara of Brewton, Ala.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; two sons, Oscar Thomas and George Thomas Jr., both of Las Vegas; one daughter, Monica Thomas of Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
