Paulson building Hard Rock near Beau Rivage

Full House Resorts Inc. of Las Vegas said it selected a site in Mississippi for its $270 million Hard Rock hotel-casino. The site in Biloxi is adjacent to Mirage Resorts' Beau Rivage hotel-casino.

Full House Mississippi, LLC, a company jointly owned by Full House Resorts and by Allen E. Paulson, its principal shareholder and former chairman, said the location includes 6.7 acres along the Gulf Coast formerly occupied by the Gold Shore Casino.

In a presentation Thursday before the Mississippi Gaming Commission, Full House said the rock 'n' roll themed destination resort will include 400-450 rooms, a Hard Rock Live concert venue and a signature Hard Rock Cafe, as well as several specialty restaurants and a health spa.

The casino would have 40,000 square feet with 1,600 slot machines and 60 table games.

It would be served by a 2,000-car parking garage and a golf course, the Sun Herald newspaper reported.

Full House said it applied for the necessary permits and expects to open the resort in 2001. The project is contingent upon financing and other details.

Full House was not seeking approval for the project from Mississippi regulators.

"I'm just here to show you what we're attempting to do," Full House President Gregg Giuffria said, according to the Sun Herald.

Full House Resorts last November announced it signed a licensing agreement with Hard Rock Cafe International Inc. for the development of the Mississippi Hard Rock hotel-casino. The project is to be developed and operated by Full House and Hard Rock. Hard Rock would own and manage a retail store and Hard Rock Cafe at the project.
