Rebels second in Hawaii

Two UNLV golfers fired team season-low rounds of 66 Thursday to help the fourth-ranked Rebels climb into a two-way tie for second place after the second day of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate golf tournament in Kaneohe, Hawaii.

Michael Kirk and Jeremy Anderson turned in six-under par rounds as the team finished the day with a season-low score of 12-under 276. The Rebels (282-276--558) were tied with Southern Methodist (284-274--558) and sat six shots behind leader Oklahoma State (272-280--552).

Individually, Kirk's best day as a Rebel was enough to propel him into the overall lead with a 68-66--134. Also for UNLV, Charley Hoffman was tied for 17th place, Scott Lander was 45th and Adam Scott was tied for 93rd. The final round is today.
