Ice 3, Thunder2 (SO)

LAS VEGAS--The Indianapolis Ice (20-27-10) posted only their second win in 17 games Friday night, 3-2 over the Las Vegas Thunder in a shootout. The teams met before 6,397 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Winger Bob LaChance scored the deciding tally as Indianapolis took the tiebreaker 2-1 in five rounds.

Las Vegas goalie Petr Franek frustrated the hard-charging Ice in regulation, stopping 48 of 50 shots. Only David Hymovitz and Rob Boileau managed to score. The Thunder (21-28-6) stayed even through the first period, tying the score 1-1 on a power play goal by Scott Hollis at 8:11, and surged ahead on Taj Melson's goal in the second.

Geoff Sarjeant posted the win in goal, with 37 saves on 39 chances.
