Man arrested after car crashes into river

Alfredo Villalpando, 28, of Sun Valley, was booked Friday into the Washoe County Jail after being treated for hypothermia at Washoe Medical Center.
Police said his minivan crashed through the Kietzke Lane guardrail Thursday night and tumbled down an embankment into the river.
The van was carried about 75 feet downstream, but Villalpando managed to climb on its roof and get out of the river.
He was soaked by the cold water and wasn't discovered until police responded to another accident in the area about 45 minutes later.
Rescuers pulled Villalpando out of the river from the Keitzke Lane bridge, 25 feet above the submerged van. Crews removed the vehicle from the river Friday.
