Letter: No pride in airing Howard Stern show

By whose standard? And who is counting those viewers he claims to attract? Everyone should watch his show once -- and once is enough -- to see just how low TV can get!
Channel 8 talks glowingly about having "Community Pride," and then moves on to Howard Stern. Obviously, Channel 8 can't tell the difference between "Pride" and "Porno!"
Why worry about what young people are seeing on the Internet; why be concerned about the smut peddlers on the Strip. Just tune in the Howard Stern show, live! He is not funny, he is not "campy," he is lewd, vulgar and demeaning to women. The only people laughing are the show regulars and, of course, Stern himself -- because he can call TV a "vast wasteland" and brag about keeping it that way.
Every community group with community pride, and every individual with community pride should be ashamed to have Howard Stern as part of our local television viewing.
My personal protest will be to watch another TV station -- and to let others know that pride has been forgotten by Channel 8.
