Letter: Rebel fans to blame

They're simply asking for flash rather than fundamentals ... with the result being sloppy play and constant bad decision-making. These are the antitheses of good basketball, no matter how many alley-oop dunks take place to wow the crowd.

Vertical leap just doesn't cut it alone. The Rebels currently have a team IQ of about 12, which is better than the zero they started out with at the beginning of the season. But they're still college basketball's version of Forrest Gump.

The whole team plays with an arrogance that is not commensurate with a squad that has yet to beat a quality program.

It's the fans who are demanding a style of play that wins championships by 30-point blowouts ... and that's a style the Rebels just aren't ready to emulate yet. And consequently, it's the fans who are only too quick to abandon the team, sometimes in mid-game, when the players fail to deliver.
