Total number of firearm deaths and firearm death rates, ranked by rate 1996, in a study issued Thursday by the non-profit Violence Policy Center in Washington D.C., based on figures provided by the National Center for Health Statistics.
The first column is the ranking. The second column is the state abbreviation. The third column is the total number of firearm deaths. The fourth column is the rate of firearm deaths per 100,000:
