The Las Vegas Thunder will try to keep its slim International Hockey League playoff hopes alive when it hosts the Cincinnati Cyclones tonight and again on Saturday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The two teams have met just once before this season with Cincinnati (31-24-4) scoring an 8-3 victory on Nov. 7.
The Thunder (22-29-6) is 13-4-1 in its last 18 games but is coming off a 2-0 shutout loss to Long Beach on Sunday.
There will be at least one new face in the lineup for Las Vegas tonight. Left winger Lorne Toews was recalled Thursday from Corpus Christi of the Western Professional Hockey League. Meanwhile, right winger Tom Lovell was reassigned to Tacoma of the West Coast Hockey League while another right winger, Chad Wagner, was returned to San Diego of the WCHL.
Following this weekend's games, Las Vegas travels to Utah for a three-game series beginning next Friday.
