Elderly woman dies of pneumonia, neglect investigation ongoing

Carson City sheriff's investigators said further tests on the body of Ellen DeSpain were ongoing.

The woman, who lived with her son, died Wednesday at Carson-Tahoe Hospital after being brought in with massive bed sores.

No criminal charges have been filed and the investigation was continuing, deputies said.

The preliminary autopsy also found a urinary infection, gastric ulcers and dehydration were factors in her death.
