A key element in the Venetian's business strategy is offering elegant dining and high-end shopping and other amenities to its customers.
To date, it has leased space to several top restaurateurs who will open the following restaurants:
+. Postrio, a San Francisco bistro by Wolfgang Puck named "one of the 10 great restaurants in the world" by HOTELS Magazine.
+. Delmonico Steakhouse, by the famed New Orleans chef Emeril Lagasse.
+. Pinot, a Los Angeles eatery by Joachim Splichal, rated the best California chef in "Who's Who in Food & Beverage."
+. Star Canyon, offering "new Texas cuisine" from Stephan Pyles, whom the New York Times called "an absolute genius in the kitchen."
+. Canaletto, a new concept by Il fornaio's Larry Mindel featuring the talents of Maurizzo Mazzon of Venice.
+. I More Di Venezia, a seafood house with wood-fired ovens.
+. Royal Star, with California Chinese cuisine prepared by master chefs from Hong Kong.
+. Grand Lux Cafe, by the Cheesecake Factory.
In addition, the resort's 63,000-square-foot Canyon Ranch Spa Club, owned and operated by Tucson-based Canyon Ranch, will offer full spa services and fine dining for the health-conscious.
Customers at the Grand Canal Shoppes will find a variety of retailers, including BCBG women's clothing; Simayof, Ca'd'Oro, Movado and Chopard jewelry and watches; Pal Zileri and Tino Cosma men's clothing; Davante eyewear; Il Prato Venetian masks; Jesurum imported linen; Jimmy Choo and Kenneth Cole shoes and accessories; Lido Beach resort apparel; Lladro collectibles; Lorenzi of Italy leathers; and Gallerie d' Angelina art.
Forest City Development Co. of Cleveland will manage the Grand Canal Shoppes. Forest City also manages the Galleria at Sunset and Showcase malls.
London-based Tussauds Group will open a $16 million Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum in 28,000 square feet of exhibit space on the second and third floors of a full-scale architectural replica of the St. Mark's Library building.
The Venetian will have a 1,400-seat multilevel theater that will host nightly live acts and be transformed into a nightclub each night after 11 p.m. The first level of the nightclub will feature a laser light show, while lounge acts will appear on the second level. The top level will feature six skyboxes, each for 20 to 25 guests.
A 300-seat brew house will be next to the theater.
