Starting Wednesday, Gowan Road will be closed to traffic between Tenaya Way and Rainbow Boulevard as part of a road improvement project.
The $4.5 million project, which starts today, will improve Gowan and add storm drains between U.S. 95 and Decatur Boulevard. The Public Works Department is predicting lane closures at various locations on Gowan for the next 11 months.
The section of Gowan between Tenaya and Rainbow should reopen on Jan. 22, officials said. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes for east-west travel such as Alexander Road and Cheyenne Avenue.
