Former middle school teacher sentenced on charge of lewdness

Ronald Keen, 39, has resigned his position teaching reading at Orr Middle School.

Keen had been suspended without pay from the school since charges were filed against him in January 1998. He was charged with two felony counts of lewdness with a minor under the age of 14 and one misdemeanor count of annoying a minor.

The charges stem from allegations raised by three boys, who were 12 and 13 at the time. The boys were involved in a Bible quiz group led by Keen.

In October, Keen pleaded guilty to a single gross misdemeanor count of open and gross lewdness.
