Shooting suspect surrenders

A suspect in the shooting death of one person and the wounding of another turned himself Tuesday.

Albert Cunningham, 22, was charged with murder with a weapon and attempted murder with a weapon, Metro Police homicide Lt. Wayne Petersen said.

Police were searching for Cunningham in connection with a double shooting late Saturday at an apartment complex on East Desert Inn Road.

Marc Anthony Villane, 29, died from gunshot wounds, and a woman was critically injured.

Petersen declined to release the identity of the woman, who is listed in critical condition at University Medical Center.

Police went to the apartment at around 10 p.m. Saturday because of a domestic violence call. When they arrived, Cunningham had left the scene with the woman's handgun, Petersen said.

He said Cunningham had threatened violence if the woman called police.

After taking a report for battery and the theft of the handgun, the police officers left.

Cunningham returned shortly before midnight and shot the woman and Villane, a neighbor who was leaving his apartment, according to the police.

Witnesses said Cunningham also shot at another neighbor.
