Letter: She's happy she can say thanks

Around 2 a.m. on Christmas Eve morning, I woke up to the sound of my fire alarm going off. I jumped up and could smell smoke. I tried to turn on the lights and had no power. Then I tried to phone the fire department and realized I had no power to the phone, so I went out and called out at the top of my lungs for someone to call the fire department.

I can't thank enough Page and Doc and others from the Red Cross or the young couple who called the fire department and loaned my son something to put on.

You helped me, my son and Lucy (our dog) escape death. Please make sure your fire detector works. It will save your life. You are in my prayers daily. Thank you with all my heart.
