The Phoenix-based airline, which operates a hub in Las Vegas, also is expanding capacity on two other New York flights by substituting larger planes for the route.
The company is adding a morning departure from Las Vegas to New York and an afternoon flight from New York to Las Vegas. That will give the company two morning and two late-night departures from Las Vegas and morning, afternoon and two night flights from New York.
The new flights, which begin March 2, will use a 150-seat Airbus A320 twin-engine jet. Two of the other flights will upgrade from A320s to 190-seat Boeing 757s beginning today.
The four non-stop trips give America West the most direct flights to New York from Las Vegas.
