Genoa man guilty of disorderly conduct

East Fork Justice Court Judge Jim EnEarl found Ron Bommarito guilty on Thursday of disorderly conduct stemming from an Aug. 27 dispute over a sign posted by East Fork Fire Inspector Terry Taylor.

"I understand your position. I understand your reasoning. I don't condone your rash behavior," he told Bommarito.

A $500 fine will be suspended for one year if Bommarito stays out of trouble.

The incident occurred after Taylor posted a "No Parking" sign to mark a fire lane next to Bommarito's Main Street antique store.

Bommarito tried to remove it, words were exchanged and a minor scuffle ensued. Witnesses differed over who was the aggressor.

EnEarl commended Bommarito on his legal defense effort, but concluded that he behaved in a disorderly manner.

He told Bommarito to think through any future disputes before acting, noting a 1996 altercation between Bommarito and then-town board chairman Don Minifie after Minifie ordered Bommarito to move some tree clippings.

That case also concluded in Justice Court with a fine for Bommarito and a lecture from EnEarl directed at both participants.
