Police wait at court for suspect in killing

A man heading to Justice Court Thursday morning never made it after Metro Police detectives arrested him in connection with a Dec. 14 homicide.

Levenral Demario "Marlo" Polk, 22, was taken into custody at about 8 a.m., Lt. Wayne Petersen said.

"We knew he had a court date on an unrelated drug charge, so we were hoping he'd show up," Petersen said. "Through the investigation we developed information that he was a suspect, so we wanted to get to him before he had a chance to make himself scarce."

At about 9 p.m. on Dec. 14 Metro officers found Walter Hodges, 22, lying in Owens Avenue near Nellis Boulevard. Hodges died at the scene from two gunshot wounds in the chest, police said.

The exact motive behind the shooting is still not known, Petersen said.
