Rebels get commitment from offensive lineman

New UNLV head coach John Robinson picked up his fifth verbal commitment from a recruit Tuesday afternoon when all-state junior college offensive lineman Greg Hulett (6-3, 290) of Los Angeles Valley College called and committed to the Rebels.

Hulett was a two-time all Western State Conference selection for Monarchs head coach Gary Barlow and earned California all-state honors as a sophomore. He is expected to challenge for the starting center position occupied by the graduated Bubba Gonzalez the last three seasons.

"I think they're really getting a steal," Barlow said. "He's really what junior college football is all about ... putting in hard effort on the field, in the classroom and the weight room."

Hulett, who was also being recruited by BYU and Indiana, called UNLV "a perfect match for me." He plans to major in hotel management.

Hulett was a co-captain and left tackle for the Monarchs. He was an all-L.A. City and all-San Fernando Valley pick his senior year at El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, Calif.

The national letter-of-intent signing period begins on Feb. 3.
