Letter: Cram should push for others' salaries

Then there is Brian Cram, who I have nothing against, getting a $20,000 a year raise. My wife is a CCSD employee, a library clerk, and her day is filled with putting books back on the shelf, checking out and receiving books, lunchroom duty and whatever menial task that the teachers or upper management employees don't want to do.

She receives calls from parents who are upset because she sent home an overdue notice with their child and the parents very rudely tell her that her child turned the book in. Then a week later, when the book is finally found by the child and turned in, does she call the parent and say, "I told you so!" No. Does the parent call and apologize? Nine out of 10 times, no.

I think Cram should walk a day in these employees' shoes, and I think he would realize who really deserves a raise, especially when his raise is several thousand dollars more than my wife makes in an entire year. I'm sure Cram has worked very hard to get where he is at and I have no major complaints with the way he runs the "show."

I think that if he is going to accept this big of a pay raise, then he should become a lot more vocal when it comes time to compensate the staff which makes him look good.
