Brief: IGT hires Sega pinball designer

Kaminkow, 40, spent 13 years as vice president of engineering and game design for Sega Pinball and oversaw development of such games as Harley Davidson, The X-Files, Star Wars, Michael Jordan, Jurassic Park, Titanic and others.

IGT Executive Vice President Bob Bittman said Kaminkow's entertainment and licensing expertise will be used to broaden the Reno-based slot manufacturing company's product line.

IGT, the world's biggest slot and video game maker, is facing growing opposition from some major casino companies to the spread of revenue participation games.

Some casino operators are starting to design their own proprietary games, heating up the competition for engineers and others experienced in the esoteric art of game design.
