Unsuccessful office-seeker appointed to council

Murphy resigned just before her husband, Chris Murphy, was named police chief. Her term expires July 1.

Both Christensen and the other applicant for the position, Linda Wolfsteller, indicated they would run for the council in June.

Christensen has been a Carlin volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician for more than 10 years.

Mayor Linda Bingaman said it was easier to let the people decide between the two candidates in the upcoming elections rather than have the Council make the choice now.

But she joined Council members Ron Grube and Bob Heath in Wednesday's appointment.
