The company closed sales offices in Florida and New Jersey, requiring the layoff of 40 to 50 of its Las Vegas support staff. The balance of the layoffs occurred in Reno, where Preferred Equities let about seven people go, said Jon Joseph, general counsel for Preferred Equities.
Overall, Preferred Equities laid off 180. The company will now handle all sales through offices in Las Vegas, Denver and Dallas, said Joseph.
