Kansas firm plans nongaming hotel

Candlewood Hotel Co. Inc. has purchased an aging shopping center that sits on a 4.4-acre Paradise Road site for $5.2 million.

George Connor, vice president of retail properties for Colliers International, said Candlewood had been looking for a Las Vegas site for 2 1/2 years.

Connor said the Paradise Road corridor is becoming a major business hub, featuring nongaming hotels, restaurants and business centers.

Candlewood operates 56 hotels and has 48 properties under development in the United States.
