Legislature's budget panels begin reviews

CARSON CITY -- The budget committees of the Legislature start their two-week pre-session review of Gov. Kenny Guinn's $3.2 billion budget, beginning today.

The Senate Finance and Assembly Ways and Means committees will hear testimony from various department heads on the proposed spending program for 1999-2001.

The schedule calls for Budget Director Perry Comeaux to present a broad overview of the budget on Tuesday, followed by testimony of the proposed state building program and then Comeaux's testimony on his spending for the Department of Administration.
