Letter: House leaders ignored advice

During the meeting of the House Judiciary Committee chaired by Rep. Henry Hyde, a plethora of historians, attorneys, judges and important persons from other administrations appeared before the committee. Almost to a person, among them John Dean, their advice was against impeachment.

Hyde ignored their valid reasons with some snide remarks about advice from academia. He cast aside any objectivity one would expect from a chairman. He smiled and applauded Ken Starr, the only witness called to testify before the committee. Hyde looked as if he wanted to throw Starr a kiss.

The prosecutors have reached emotional highs in their oratory branding Clinton. This is truly a spectacle that has the appearance of an open conspiracy to misuse the "rule of law" to remove Clinton.

Hyde squelched Democrats in the Judiciary Committee and used the Republican majority vote to impeach Clinton.

Republicans insist that this case is not about "sex." Bottom line, it is about power. Republicans apparently seek absolute power.

Polls show that most people do not want Clinton removed from office.

Clinton is good for the country. The prime minister of Israel calls him "a warrior for peace." The prosecutors should be ashamed. They have succeeded in ruining Clinton's life, whatever the end result of the trial.
