Man, girlfriend, indicted in string of statewide bank robberies

The indictment claims Manuel Dominguez Jr., 38, began his robbery spree by holding up five banks in Reno, then 12 more in Las Vegas. The indictment also names his girlfriend, 38-year-old Tammy Marchand, and accuses her of taking part in two of the Reno heists.

According to court documents, the string of robberies ended Jan. 4 when the two were arrested in a downtown Las Vegas hotel room, after a witness gave a description of a pickup truck used in a robbery earlier that day at a Pioneer Citizens Bank branch.

The federal indictment alleges the truck belonged to a Las Vegas man, who was paid $100 by Dominguez to use it for the day.

According to court documents, Dominguez typically approached a teller during each heist and made a statement such as, "This is a robbery. I have a gun. Give me all your 20s, 50s and 100s."

The indictment does not charge Dominguez with armed bank robbery or using a firearm during a crime of violence - charges that could lead to a more severe sentence.

According to the indictment, Dominguez and Marchand robbed the same teller during the first two heists, which occurred on July 15 and July 24 at the Great Basin Federal Credit Union in Reno.

The indictment claims Dominguez then robbed the Greater Nevada Federal Credit Union in Reno twice in a row - once on July 27 and again on Aug. 3.

According to the indictment, about $70,000 was stolen during the 17 robberies.

Dominguez and Marchand remain in custody. They are scheduled to appear Jan. 29 for an arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert Johnston.
