Bishop named Elko County undersheriff

Steve Bishop will assume his new duties on Feb. 1, Elko Sheriff Neil Harris announced Monday.
Bishop, 52, replaces Clair Morris, who was hired a few weeks ago as Elko police chief.
Bishop is currently acting head of security for Newmont Gold Co. During his law enforcement career, he also served as undersheriff in Humboldt County and as both sheriff and undersheriff in nearby Lander County.
