Brief: Detroit casino plans expand

The Las Vegas gaming company plans a larger casino because new studies indicate the value of the Detroit market will be $1.5 billion to $2 billion per year -- up from the initial estimate of $1.2 billion.

"We continue to be impressed by the depth of the Greater Detroit market," Chief Financial Officer James Murren told the Detroit News.

MGM's temporary casino will include 2,300 slot machines and 80 table games -- up from initial plans calling for 1,500 machines and 50 tables.
