Dayton Chamber of Commerce to remain independent

"We have stopped discussion on a merger because of opposition from the Dayton people, but will continue talking as to how we can benefit each other," Dayton chamber spokesman Bill Miles told the Mason Valley News.

The Dayton chamber has decided to contract for a number of services offered by the larger Carson chamber. Details are being worked out between the two chambers' boards of directors.

The Dayton chamber last year formed a task force to investigate the pros and cons of merging with the Carson chamber.

The Dayton chamber covers Dayton, Mound House and Stagecoach.
