Margaret Burkart, 70, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local health care center. She was born June 4, 1928, in Detroit. A resident for 17 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Peter Jr.; four sons, Peter Burkart III of Harrison Township, Mich., Gerald Burkart of Katy, Texas, Michael Burkart of New Haven, Ind., and Brian Burkart of Detroit; two daughters, Madeline Laubach and Marilyn Willick, both of Las Vegas; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Thomas John Fey

Thomas John Fey, 86, of North Las Vegas died Jan. 12 in Wisconsin. He was born May 22, 1912, in Wisconsin. A resident for 42 years, he was a retired general contractor, a 32nd Degree Mason for 25 years and a longtime elder at the First Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Judith Fey Thomas of Raleigh, N.C.; two sons, Joel T. Fey of Las Vegas and Jeffrey G. Fey of Van Nuys, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be 6 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, 1515 W. Charleston Blvd. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Michael Anthony Fox

Michael Anthony Fox, 61, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born May 14, 1937, in New York City. A resident for eight years, he was a hotel food server and a former performer with the Ice Capades.

He is survived by one brother, Michael Henry Fox of Pennsylvania.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Percy Lee 'Pat' Gassaway Jr.

Percy Lee "Pat" Gassaway Jr., 87, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 13, 1911, in Higgins, Texas. A resident for 39 years, he was a heavy duty fleet specialist, owner of Western Truck Parts and Equipment Co., a charter member of the Rotary Club and a member of the Sahara Gun Club, Americana Bowling Team and Las Vegas Gamble-Aires Barber Shop Quartet.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Sunny"; two daughters, Suzanne Throne of Ada, Okla., and Sherry Beese of Westport, Wash.; two sons, Michael Gassaway of Trabuco Canyon, Calif., and Peter Wells of Las Vegas; two brothers, Ben Gassawy of Portland, Ore., and Jim Gassaway of Tulsa, Okla.; three sisters, Dorathy Bayless of Modesto, Calif., Betty Mount of Tulsa and Peggy Whitt of Burbank, Ore.; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Lois T. Gummus

Lois T. Gummus, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born May 31, 1921, in Nebraska. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Miller of Pahrump and Ramona Hartl of Oregon; two sons, Richard Gummus of Oregon and Randall Gummus of Livermore, Calif.; six brothers and sisters, all of Nebraska; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

John Willie Harold

John Willie Harold, 74, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 10, 1924, in Marlin, Texas. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired chef.

He is survived by his wife, Lolene; three sons, Donald Harold, Willie Harold and the Rev. Davey Harold, all of Las Vegas; many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be Tuesday at Mt. Sinai .Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

James Madison-Caviness Howard

James Madison-Caviness Howard, 39, of Henderson died Friday in Henderson. He was born Nov. 27, 1959, in Tennessee. A resident for many years, he was a casino slot mechanic.

He is survived by one daughter, Adrienne Marie Evans; one brother, Bryan Howard of Brentwood, Tenn; and four sisters, Lucia Howard of Lafayette, Calif., Rita Howard of Nashville, Tenn., and Elizabeth Howard and Allison Howard, both of Knoxville, Tenn.

No local services are scheduled. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Michael Shane Jones

Michael Shane Jones, 44, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 11, 1954, in Miami. A resident for 10 years, he was a government paramedic and a member of the Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Rose; one son, Shane M. Jones, his parents, Phyllis and Walter Clark, and one brother, Jack Jones, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Clyde 'C.A.' Marks

Clyde 'C.A.' Marks, 62, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 14, 1936, in Jamaica, N.Y. A resident for 12 years, he owned an office furniture and supply business.

He is survived by one son, Kenneth A. Marks, and one daughter, Deborah G. Marks, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Barbara McHardy of Fearrington Village, N.C.; and one granddaughter.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. Tuesday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.

Raymond E. Meeks

Raymond E. Meeks, 49, of Las Vegas died Jan. 18 in a local hospice. He was born Nov. 12, 1949, in Pensacola, Fla. A resident for two years, he was a radiator mechanic.

He is survived by seven sons, Ray Meeks, Frank Meeks and Charlie Meeks, all of Oklahoma, Harry Meeks of Texas and Harley D. Meeks, Brandon Meeks and Shawn Meeks, all of California; one daughter, Regina Meeks of California; two sisters, Joy Palmer of Las Vegas and Annie Lane of Bend, Ore.

Visitation is scheduled 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Tuesday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Loretta Riggs

Loretta Riggs, 85, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 1, 1913, in Terre Haute, Ind. A resident for 41 years, she was a retired Clark County School District teacher's aide, a member of the Clark County Gem Collectors and a former member of the Eagles.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynette Hitt of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; two sons, Rexford Riggs and Ronald Riggs, both of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

E. Katherine Symons

E. Katherine Symons, 90, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local health care center. She was born Aug. 4, 1908, in Hot Springs, Ark. A resident for 43 years, she was a homemaker and member and past president of the Mesquite Club.

She is survived by one niece, Frances M. Ernest of Las Vegas; one nephew, Edward Hoffman of Rhinelander, Wis.; and 17 great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Trinity United Methodist Church, 6151 W. Charleston Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
