Former chiropractor accused of sexual misconduct reaches settlement

The $4.4 million settlement was described by one attorney as the best way to bring closure for the women who were patients of Jeffrey Donner.

The settlements are expected to be covered by Donner's insurance policy.

The largest settlement went to Jennifer Fox, who will receive $2.5 million. Fox was 18 when she went to see Donner in 1992 for injuries to her back and neck. She claimed he fondled her. She reported the incident to police, but Donner was not arrested until other women came forward in 1994.

Donner was indicted in April 1994 on 14 criminal counts, including sexual assault, stemming from allegations by women who said Donner molested them during treatment.

In November 1996, he pleaded no contest to six gross misdemeanor counts of open and gross lewdness. He was sentenced to probation and had to register as a sex offender.

Donner, 35, now lives in Florida but no long works as a chiropractor, his attorney said.
