Brief: Nevada No. 1 in income growth

Nevada personal income increased by 1.9 percent from the second quarter and the booming construction industry -- especially the building of new hotel-casinos -- contributed greatly to the increase, said Duke Tran, an agency economist.

Nevada construction earnings increased 4 percent, government was up 2.7 percent, services increased 2.4 percent and finance, insurance, & real estate grew by 2.3 percent.

Nationwide, personal income grew by 1.1 percent, the same rate as in the previous quarter.
