Letter: Poisoning of earth must be stopped

I believe the word of the EPA that it is not harmful to humans, just as I believed that there was no danger from nuclear fall-out from above-ground nuclear tests, that our servicemen at the Test Site were safe when they could see their skeletal bones through transparent skin tissue, that nuclear power plants are safe, that nuclear and chemical waste can be dumped into the ground without it leaching into the ground water, that there were no effects on our service personnel from the use of Agent Orange, and that our men and women in the military suffered no ill effects from their exposure to various agents in the Gulf War.

A yearlong EPA study that comes up with such a benign conclusion regarding the effect of perchlorate in our water is a huge waste of taxpayer money. Whatever affects the environment and the creatures in it, including ourselves, young children, and unborn children in a negative way, has repercussions for us all.

As one of the hundreds of thousands of people in this country already affected by a thyroid disorder, I would much prefer that no additional hazards be added.

Enough of these phony studies and lies being told to us. We have been and are continuing to systematically poison our home, the earth.
