Brief: Quorum stock falls on earnings report
Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999 | 11:51 a.m.
Quorum Health's stock hit a 52-week low of $8.37 after the company said it earned 5 cents a share, excluding one-time charges, in its second fiscal quarter, missing analysts' average estimate of 15 cents, according to First Call Corp.
Quorum Health, of Brentwood, Tenn., blamed the shortfall on pricing pressure from managed care providers, "operational issues" in certain markets and poor performance in some of its recently acquired facilities. Quorum owns Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas.
