Henderson will host its sixth annual Fourth of July celebration 5-11 p.m. Sunday at Morrell Park, at Harris Street and Major Avenue.

The will event will be highlighted by a 4,350-shot fireworks display after dark. Admission is free. Call 565-2121 or 565-4260.

Two workshops set at Henderson pools

Two scuba diving workshops are being offered in Henderson.

A beginner level workshop will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the BMI Outdoor Pool, 107 W. Basic Road. The second workshop will be 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Lorin L. Williams Indoor Pool, 500 N. Palo Verde Drive. Participation is $10. Call 565-2123.

Water activities program highlights free events

Guided hikes and informative talks are offered by the Lake Mead National Recreation Area free at the park's Alan Bible Visitor Center northeast of Boulder City. Reservations are required for the guided hikes. Call 293-8990.

Among the coming events is a water activities program, which is family oriented and includes relay races, role playing, accuracy throwing and more. Each activity centers around important safety information everyone needs to know when playing around water.

Water activities will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Boulder Swim Beach and Callville Bay Swim Beach; 10 a.m. Sunday at Overton Swim Beach and 2 p.m. at the Special Events Beach at Boulder Beach; and 10 a.m. Monday at Echo Bay Swim Beach and 2 p.m. at Water Ski Beach at Boulder Beach.

Summer programs set at community schools

A Summer Kids Kamp is being offered for ages 6-12 from Wednesday through July 30 at various community schools.

Cost is $55 per week, and family rates are available. Call 229-2256.

One event is Stupak's Super Splash '99, which will be 7-9 p.m. July 9 at Baker Park Swimming Pool, 1100 E. St. Louis Ave. Free family swim, food, games and prizes. Call 229-2488.

Children can have fun at various programs

Clark County libraries are holding a variety of special programs. Call ahead to find out which programs require pre-registration.

Pajamas In The (2nd Story) Park: -- All ages wear PJs to the library and enjoy movies such as "Ira Sleeps Over" and "The Napping House" at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave. Call 228-3321.

"Choosing Books for Baby" is a free class being offered to parents 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Tuesday. "Learning Through Play," also free, is offered 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday for parents to learn some of the way babies 12-18 months learn through play.
