Letter: Lots of stars in week's news

There's Ken Starr's capitulation -- no case against Webster Hubbell, his wife, his friends. No case against Hillary Rodham Clinton. Little Rock is free again and Starr's face-saving statement that Hubbell "pled guilty" is more harmful than helpful to Starr.
Clinton's proposed Medicare prescription plan barely made it off the podium before Trent Lott and Phil Gramm were in front of the cameras in their $2,000 suits, manicures and lacquered hair, prepared to do an autopsy on Clinton's plan. The senators had no alternative plan in their pockets, but they knew this one was bogus.
Since they have the best health care taxpayers can provide, what the heck do they care? We're only voters. HMOs and drug manufacturers give them bucks big enough that no one can afford to run against them. Pray for term limits!
George W's enormous campaign chest -- $36 million in just three months, (mostly from Texas). Free lunch or quid pro quo? Inquiring minds want to know.
My personal favorite, however, is Starr's five-year, $50 million panty raid; his tedious and banal braying which boiled down to: "Oh, well -- never mind."
