Fire threatening Reno homes put out

The fire burned about 5 acres of brush, a garage, a barn and an out buliding within several hundred yards of the highway just northeast of the exit for the Mount Rose Highway.
It burned for about an hour near the old Brown Elementary School before dozens of firefighters and neighboring ranchers working with bulldozers got it under control shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
