Passenger in car found shot to death

Metro Police are looking for a man they believe shot and killed a passenger in his car early Sunday morning.

Police responded to a call of shots fired in the 1200 block of West Adams Avenue at 1:36 a.m. Sunday and found a 29-year-old Las Vegas man shot to death in the back seat of a car. Police say the victim had argued with the car's driver, who pulled a gun and shot the passenger several times.

Police are looking for the driver. He is described as a light-skinned, black man named Ernest. He is in his 20s, 5-feet-10 to 6-feet tall and was last seen wearing a dark blue or black shirt with white shorts. Police say the man is armed and dangerous.

Man presumed drowned at Lake Mead

National Park Service Rangers continue to search for a man missing since Sunday at the Lake Mead Recreation Area.

The 60-year-old Las Vegas man is presumed drowned after his boat was run over by another boat about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Park Service spokeswoman Kay Rohde said.

The victim was piloting a Zodiac boat without lights when it was hit by a larger power boat in the Boulder Canyon Narrows part of the lake. The water in the narrows is between 300 and 400 feet deep, Rohde said. Park Service rangers continue to investigate the accident.

The body of another Las Vegas man who was missing at the lake on Sunday was found Monday morning.

The 49-year-old man was found in 34 feet of water at Government Wash at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The man's name has not been released pending notification of his family.

Witnesses said the victim's girlfriend was in a raft and was pushed across a cove by a gust of wind. The victim attempted to swim out and pull her back but drowned halfway across the cove, Rohde said.

One dies, seven injured near lake

One man was killed and seven people injured Monday evening in two separate accidents near Lake Mead.

The first accident happened about 6:30 p.m. along Northshore Road, a National Park Service spokeswoman said.

The driver of a northbound 1987 Ford Mustang, identified by the Nevada Highway Patrol as Joel Rodriguez, 19, of Las Vegas, appeared to lose control of his car and struck a 1998 Toyota traveling in the southbound lane, a highway patrol spokesman said.

Rodriguez died in the accident. Two passengers in the Mustang and the driver of the Toyota were taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.

The second accident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. along Lakeshore Road when a van carrying six people rolled. Four were taken to UMC with serious injuries.

A pedestrian was killed Saturday night when he tried to cross Interstate 15. Gene Foote, 59, of Pahrump tried to cross the highway near the Silverton hotel-casino about 9:40 p.m. when he was struck by a 1998 Ford van traveling south, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
