Construction defects alleged

An association representing property owners in the Legacy Village master planned community sued the community's developers, claiming walls and drainage systems are defective.

Legacy Village in Henderson is a 10-square-mile community bordered in part by Lake Mead Drive, Green Valley Parkway and Wigwam Parkway, the suit says. The walls and drainage system were installed by Silver Springs Inc. and American Nevada Corp., the suit says.

The lawsuit alleges that 10 miles of block walls separating homes from the streets are defective. Attorney Roger Grant claims the walls, installed in 1990 and 1991, have developed numerous, severe cracks over the past three years. Grant also said the drainage system is inadequate, causing street flooding. Both were caused by defective design and construction, the lawsuit alleges.

The association is seeking funds to repair and replace the walls and drainage systems. This is the latest in a flurry of construction defect suits filed in the Las Vegas area this summer.

Neither defendant could be reached for comment.

The Greenspun family controls both American Nevada and the Las Vegas Sun.
