Illinois firm expanding in Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Argosy Gaming Co. of Alton, Ill., announced plans to build a $20 million, 300-room convention hotel in downtown Baton Rouge, La. It will be that city's first new downtown hotel in 50 years.
The hotel, called the Centroplex Centre Convention Hotel, will be near Argosy's Baton Rouge casino and across from the city's convention center. Argosy anticipates completing the 10-story hotel in 16 months.
Argosy primarily operates riverboat casinos in the Midwest and Southeast. It owns and operates casinos near St. Louis, Kansas City, Baton Rouge, Cincinnati and Sioux City, Iowa.
