LV phone company continues to grow

MGC Communications Inc. of Las Vegas reported double-digit percentage increases in the number of lines it has sold and in revenues for its second quarter.

The local and long distance telephone service provider said the company sold and installed 24,388 lines in its second quarter, a 40 percent increase from the 17,403 installed in the first quarter. That brings the total in service to 109,480 lines as of June 30, 38 percent more than the total as of March 31, the end of the first quarter.

As of June 30, the company established 248 distribution sites nationwide providing the company access to about 13.7 million lines. The company serves small business and residential customers in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Chicago and cities in southern Florida and Southern California.

Clark Wood, director of investor relations for MGC, said the company plans to announce detailed earnings information later this month, but he said revenues are expected to be up 37 percent to $11.5 million for the second quarter over the first quarter.
