Rain washes out Stars game

SALT LAKE CITY -- Rain postponed Wednesday night's series finale between the Las Vegas Stars and Salt Lake Buzz at Franklin Covey Field.
The two teams will make the contest up as part of a doubleheader when the Buzz visit Cashman Field for a series on August 9-12. No date has been determined yet for the makeup game.
Following a 15-minute rain delay Wednesday, Las Vegas took a 1-0 lead on an opposite-field home run by third baseman Juan Melo.
But Salt Lake never got a chance to bat in the bottom half of the inning when the rain returned.
Las Vegas opens a four-game series at Fresno tonight at 7:30 p.m.
