Pamela Jill Douglas Alger

Pamela Jill Douglas Alger, 38, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 29, 1960, in Salt Lake City. A resident for 27 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, David; two daughters, Heather Alger and Jill Alger, three sons, Jimmy Alger, Michael Alger and Bobby Alger, and her father, D.R. "Dick" Douglas, all of Las Vegas; her two stepfathers, Robert Horn of Yanceyville, N.C., and Herb Smelser of Las Vegas; one sister, Dawn Eubanks of Las Vegas; and three half-brothers, David Douglas of Murray, Utah, Rick Douglas of Henderson and Steve Horn of Austin, Texas.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services Saturday in the Valley Vista LDS Ward. Burial will follow Saturday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Howard L. Aven

Howard L. Aven, 61, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 6, 1938, in Denver. A resident for three years, he was a furniture designer and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; his parents, Rosa and Morris Aven, and one brother, Stuart Aven, all of Denver.

Emma Elizabeth Baker

Emma Elizabeth Baker, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born March 25, 1924, in Texas. A resident for 11 years, she was a child-care worker and an Army veteran.

She is survived by her husband, Carl; one daughter, Sherri Ann Baker; and two sisters, Joyce and Louise.

Carl Phillip Ballengee

Carl Phillip Ballengee, 44, of Las Vegas died Friday. He was born April 14, 1955, in Huntington, W.Va. A resident for two years, he was a houseboat manager.

He is survived by one daughter, Heather Matheny, his ex-wife, Debra Rowan, and two sisters, Carla Cotey and Karen Shaw, all of Las Vegas.

Jack Balter

Jack Balter, 71, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 25, 1928, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired sales executive and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta; two sons, Neil Balter of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Craig Balter of Eugene, Ore.; one sister, Shirley Gurney of Los Angeles; and one grandchild.

Services were scheduled at noon today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Jeffrey William Bernard

Jeffrey William Bernard, 61, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born May 11, 1938, in Chicago. A resident for 36 years, he was a retired casino supervisor, an Air Force veteran and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie; one daughter, Joani Lowrie of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Helen M. Clark, 86, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 10, 1912, in Nebraska. A resident for 35 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Lincoln; one son, Darrell Clark of Las Vegas; two brothers, Darrell Leffingwell of Lodi, Calif., and William Leffingwell of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Jacqueline Wright of San Jose, Calif., and Marjorie Roach of Texas; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

David Andrew Coyle, 35, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 6, 1964, in Oregon. A resident for seven years, he was a warehouse manager and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; two daughters, Rachael and Heather; his mother, Joyce Foster; one brother, Dan Olvera; and one sister, Darla Foster.

Eileen F. Crosland

Eileen F. Crosland, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born May 21, 1918, in Durango, Colo. A resident for 26 years, she retired as a casino cashier after 25 years.

She is survived by three daughters, Patrice E. Crosland-Cherry of Las Vegas and Natalie Vogelsang and Barbara Lee, both of California; one son, Bill Stark of California; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Robert Allen Dotts, 60, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. He was born May 20, 1939, in Colorado. A resident for 15 years, he was an electrician, an Air Force veteran and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He is survived by his wife, Rita; two sons, Boyd Irwin Dotts and Douglas Paul Dotts; one daughter, Cindy Ann Dotts Vigil; his parents, Irwin and Edna; one brother, Richard Irwin Dotts; one sister, Margaret Ann Hayes; and seven grandchildren.

June Flynn

June Flynn, 70, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. She was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Boston. A resident for 20 years, she was a retired restaurant hostess.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen DeLos Reyes of Las Vegas; one son, Kenneth Noyons of Vancouver, Wash.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Loyda Garcia, 62, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born March 24, 1937, in Blanco, N.M. A resident for 19 years, she was a housekeeper at a convalescent hospital.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Rodriguez of Albuquerque, N.M., Veronica Kaimer of Sun Valley, Ariz., and Dianna Garcia of Las Vegas; three sons, Eloy Garcia, Ricky Garcia and Danny Garcia, all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Percillia Weakei of Farmington, N.M., and Lucy Aranda and Vivian Gonzales, both of Bloomfield, N.M.; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Nancy Ann Gordon, 48, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A resident for 27 years, she was born March 28, 1951, in Maryland.

She is survived by her companion, Michael Finnie; her mother, Ann Gordon Burke; and one brother, Joseph Gordon of Sunderlan, Md.

Michael D. Guinn

Michael D. Guinn, 54, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 25, 1945, in San Luis Obispo, Calif. A resident for 39 years, he was a truck driver, a Vietnam War Army veteran and had attended Western High School.

He is survived by four sisters, Sandra G. Nye and Frances Guinn, both of Las Vegas, and Yvonne Elizondo and Marsha D. Robinson, both of Ventura, Calif.

Artis Jones Sr.

Artis Jones Sr., 76, of Las Vegas died June 26 in a local care center. He was born Dec. 18, 1922, in Alabama. A resident for 11 years, he was a security guard and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Louise; one son, Artis Jones Jr.; one daughter, Stephanie; one brother, William; and two sisters, Mitty Carey and Betty Coleman.

Motomi 'Tomi' Kato Kahakua

Motomi 'Tomi' Kato Kahakua, 62, of Hawaii and Las Vegas died Sunday. A Japanese tour coordinator, she was born Aug. 18, 1936, in Yokohama, Japan. She was a member of American Association of Retired Persons, Big Island Retired Military Association, National Association of Federally Licensed Firearms Dealers, Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Las Vegas Hawaiian Civic Club, Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary, Mature Outlook, National Rifle Association, Senior Friends-Sunrise Chapter and Veterans of the Vietnam War Inc., and a life member of the DAV Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Buster; one daughter, Pilialoha Yuka Kahakua of Las Vegas; one sister, Keiko Kato of Yokomaha; and one granddaughter, Tazlynn Ai Kahakua of Las Vegas.

Alex Kavulia, 83, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 24, 1915, in Garfield, N.J. A resident for 20 years, he was a belt salesman, worked with mining machinery and was a World War Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; one daughter, Ellie Lancet of Rochester, N.Y.; one brother, Nisck Kavulia of Bayonne, N.J.; one sister, Mary Gambal of Garfield, N.J.; and two grandchildren.

Anthony R. Landy, 76, of Las Vegas died July 1 in a local hospice. He was born July 8, 1922, in New Jersey. A resident for three years, he was an expeditor for an elevator company and an Army veteran.

Willie Jones Mabry, 81, of Henderson died June 14 in a local hospital. A welder, he was born Oct. 17, 1917, in Winston-Salem, N.C.

He is survived by one daughter, Janet Malia Odum of Newark, N.J.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

William L. Marsh

William L. Marsh, 62, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 12, 1937, in Arkansas. A resident for 33 years, he was a hotel porter, a Korean War Navy veteran and a professional boxer for 15 years known as "Battling' Billy Marsh.

He is survived by one son, Jackie Orlando Marsh; three daughters, Jacqueline Renee Marsh, Bonnie Regina Marsh and Kimberly Ann Marsh; one sister, Ollie J. Wiley; and four grandchildren.

Ella Offsay

Ella Offsay, 62, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 27, 1936, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 19 years, she was a real estate manager for Preferred Equity Corp.

She is survived by one brother, Leonard Offsay; and three sisters, Yvette Magaziner, Morma Einhorn and Dolores Berkowitz.

Jimmie Patricia Preston, 71, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born June 16, 1928, in Texas. A resident for 14 years, she was a homemaker.

James Lewis Reece, 63, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 14, 1935, in Macedonia, Texas. A resident for about three years, he was a self-employed truck driver and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie B. of Los Angeles; three daughters, Sharon Davis, Shirley Reece and Sheila Reece, all of Las Vegas; one stepdaughter, Brenda Faye Reece of Los Angeles; his mother, Gertrude Reece of Galt, Calif.; three brothers, Eulesley Reece of Palo Alto, Calif., Eugene Reece of Galt and Charles Reece of Los Angeles; four sisters, Thelma Mitchell of Madera, Calif., Esther Haywood of Galt, Kitty Reed of San Diego and Mattilyn Reece of Chula Vista, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mary Ellen Robinson

Mary Ellen Robinson, 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born May 9, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, James; one son, Steven Robinson of Las Vegas; two sisters, Edda Lohman and Betty White, both of Independence, Mo.; one brother, James Askins of Escondido, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. services Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Terrence Scott Shaw

Terrence Scott Shaw, 33, of Henderson died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born June 22, 1966, in Cincinnati. A resident for 13 years, he was a computer programmer for a plumbing company.

He is survived by his parents, Lamar and Barbara Shaw of Henderson; one sister, Marsha Melson of Cincinnati; and six brothers, Dwayne Shaw and Lamar T. Shaw, both of Atlanta, Stanley Shaw, Jeffrey Shaw and Kenneth Shaw, all of Henderson and Darrell Whetstone of Cincinnati.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will be in Cincinnati.

Elene Taddey

Elene Taddey, 85, of Santa Rosa, Calif., died Tuesday in Santa Rosa. She was born Jan. 1, 1914. A former Las Vegas resident from 1951-1992, she had owned the Paradise Valley Grocery Store, taught ballet, was a local artist and worked for Central Telephone Co. as an accounting clerk for 15 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan Norberg of Santa Rosa and Dorothy "Dottee" Carrillo of Pahrump; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Eugene Eggner Thomas

Eugene Eggner Thomas, 82, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born Sept. 6, 1916, in Kentucky. A resident for 24 years, he was a body and fender repairman and a member of the Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita; one son, Tony Eugene Thomas; one daughter, Eugena; one sister, Barbara Potter; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Scottie Lee Thomas, 29, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 1, 1970, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Tora; three children, Destainy, Ashaari and Scotashia, his mother, Gussie Thomas Amin, his father, Bilal Amin, and three brothers, Tony, Billie and Bobby Phillips, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Cliff Williams

Cliff Williams, 43, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born July 12, 1955, in Highland Park, Mich. A resident for 13 years, he was a health care executive.

He is survived by his parents, Paul and Velma Williams of Flint, Mich.; and four sisters, Beverly Falk of Callander, Ontario, Charlene Rice of Cass City, Mich., Virginia William Chatfield of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Jane Beseler of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Visitation was scheduled 1:30-3:30 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
