Rudolph Bassing

Rudolph Bassing, 93, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born May 1, 1906, in Bristol, R.I. A resident for 36 years, he was a retired U.S. Department of Labor investigator and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Ruth Thomas and Sheila Akins, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Allen Bassing of Maryland and Nathan Bassing of Henderson; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Valley Memorial Crematory, 745 W. Sunset Road No. 16, Henderson handled arrangements.

Phyllis M. Bohn

Phyllis M. Bohn, 59, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born July 20, 1939, in Wisconsin. A resident for seven years, she was a child care nanny, and a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society.

She is survived by one daughter and one son-in-law, Linda and Ken Ashe of Las Vegas; three sons and three daughter-in-laws, Michael and Vicki Rauch of Charlotte, N.C., Richard and Stacie Rauch of Atlanta and James and Lorraine Rauch of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Eileen Lueck of Plymouth, Wis.; three brothers, William Matthies of West Bend, Wis., and Richard Matthies and Howard Matthies, both of Beechwood, Wis.; and 14 grandchildren.

Services are scheduled 1 p.m. Thursday in Summerlin Lutheran Church, 1911 Pueblo Vista Drive. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. is handling arrangements.

Robert Cayton

Robert Cayton, 33, of Boulder City died Friday. He was born Feb. 15, 1966, in Kansas City, Mo. A resident for 11 years, he was a drywall taper construction worker.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Cayton; one daughter, Kaila Cayton, one son, Robert Cayton III, both of Boulder City; his mother and stepfather, Susan and Richard Faustlin of Pineville, Mo.; his father and stepmother, Robert and Donna Cayton, of Kansas City; three sisters, Pamela Smith of Kansas City, Lisa Fitzroy of Newton, Kan., and Christine Mathis of Pineville; one brother, Jeff Canterbury of Holden, Mo.; his grandparents, Herb and Betty Westcoat and his great-grandmother, Olive Burnham, all of Grandview, Mo.

Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson handled arrangements.

Marilyn J. Cole

Marilyn J. Cole, 69, of Las Vegas died July 5 in Las Vegas. She was born May 29, 1930, in Beuna Park, Calif. A resident for 30 years, she was a retired casino cashier.

She is survived by three daughters, Christian Paine of Taft, Calif., Cindy Walus and Laurie Morache, both of Las Vegas; two sons, Larry Cole of Anaheim, Calif., and Allen Cole of Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 2:30 p.m. in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Sylvia Epstein

Sylvia Epstein, 71, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 8, 1927, in New York City. A resident for 12 years, she was a clerical worker for an insurance company.

She is survived by her husband, Elliott; two daughters, Ivy Hutchinson of Bloomington, Ill., and Kim Rozzi of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sisters, Irene Silberman and Belle Silberman, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Charles Alberts of Florida; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled 9 a.m. Friday at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Augusta Tefta Feliciano

Augusta Tefta Feliciano, 75, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born Aug. 7, 1923, in Boston. A resident for 17 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Peter J.; one daughter, Susan V. Holmes of Sterling, Va.; two sons, Peter E. Feliciano of Port Washington, N.Y. and John G. Feliciano of South Hampton, N.Y.; one sister, Gloria Guth of Falls Church, Va.; one brother, Albert Tromara of Foxboro, Mass.; and four grandchildren.

Dennis Gallegos

Dennis Gallegos, 44, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born June 16, 1955, in Durango, Colo. A resident for three years, he was a cement finisher construction worker.

He is survived by three daughters, Celena Gallegos of North Las Vegas, Denise Galvez of Kalispel, Mont., and Angela Gallegos of Las Vegas; his mother, Lena Gallegos of Las Vegas; two sisters, Pam Valdez and Michelle Gallegos, both of Denver; three brothers, Nick Gallegos of Bridgeport, Wash., Casey Gallegos of Paragould, Ark., and Ricky Gallegos of Denver; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled for 3 until 7 p.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Jimmie R. 'Big Jim' Gripentog

Jimmie R. "Big Jim" Gripentog, 62, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 23, 1936, in Pelican Rapids, Minn. A resident for 48 years, he was the vice-president and service manager for the past 39 years at the Las Vegas Boat Harbor Inc., he was an Air Force veteran he served on the Tracker Dealer Service Council and on the Board of Directors for Ducks Unlimited and was a member in the Catholic Search Group.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Gripentog; one daughter, Denise Barker of Henderson; one son, James Gripentog of Las Vegas; his mother, Bernice Gripentog of Henderson; one brother, William Gripentog of Kennewick, Wash.; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Burial will be in Palm Memorial Park.

Margaret A. Guardado

Margaret A. Guardado, 52, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 12, 1946, in California. A resident for 1-1/2 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son Sean Gu and one daughter, Janet Stoll, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, Paul Billingham, Andy Billingham and Jack Billingham, and two sisters, Jan Billingham and Anita Pence, all of California; and one grandchild.

Lauana Henry

Lauana Henry, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 29, 1917, in Deweyville, Utah. A resident for 45 years, she was a retired clerk with the labor union.

Visitation is scheduled from 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services are scheduled 10 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Jones. Graveside services will be at noon in Memory Gardens.

Edith E. Jackson

Edith E. Jackson, 87, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born July 17, 1911, in Canada. A resident for 12 years, she was a bookkeeper for Market.

She is survived by one son, Trevor Jackson of St. George, Utah; one grandson, George Jackson of Bunkerville; and one niece, Cathy Copus of Santa Barbara, Calif.

Jerry L. Kennedy

Jerry L. Kennedy, 47, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born July 17, 1951, in St. Louis. A resident for 23 years, he was an operating engineer construction worker, and a member of the Operating Engineers Local 12.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; two daughters, Stacy Kennedy of Las Vegas and Christina Cannon of Delta, Colo.; two sons, Jerry Kennedy II of Las Vegas and Joseph Gilmer of Henderson; his parents, Jay and Joan Kennedy of Banning, Calif.; one sister, Leslie Strickler of Hilmar, Calif.; three brothers, Robert Kennedy of Nashville, Tenn., Randy Kennedy and John Kennedy, both of Banning; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Palm Valley View Mortuary.

David Larabee

David Larabee, 42, of Las Vegas died July 2, in Las Vegas. He was born April 1, 1957, in St. Johsbury, Vt.

He is survived by his life partner, Deborah Travis; one daughter, Amanda Rose; and his parents, Charles and Elsie Larabee.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society handled arrangements.

Hugo V. Larios

Hugo V. Larios, 71, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Los Angeles. A resident for 10 years, he was a worker for a beverage bottling company and a veteran.

He is survived by two sisters, Bernice Alvarez of California and Ana Delgado of Arizona.

John Harrison Linton

John Harrison Linton, 58, of Dayton, Mont., died Monday in Dayton. He was born July 2, 1941, in Non, Okla. A former resident of Las Vegas, he was a retired fire captain, a Navy veteran, a member of the Firefighters Benefit Association, and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Sharol; two sons, John H. Linton Jr. of Las Vegas and Glenn Albert Linton of Dayton; one daughter, Vicki S. Hailey of Las Vegas; three brothers, Leonard E. Linton of Lehigh, Okla., Troy and Richard Linton, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Katherine Marie Aldredge of Las Vegas; and one grandson.

No local services scheduled. Grogan Funeral Home, Inc., in Poison, Mont., is handling arrangements.

Lorena Jean Pike

Lorena Jean Pike, 40, of Henderson died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born July 7, 1959, in Phoenix. A resident for seven years, she was a communications director for a hotel-casino.

She is survived by her husband, Greg F.; one daughter, Saundra Ortega of Henderson; her mother, Pearl Stendzis of New Bedford, Mass.; four sisters, Janice Dansby of California, Debby Kopsa of Cottonwood Ariz., Maggie Kannada and Phyllis Godwin, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Bill Funkhouser of Buckeye, Ariz., and Paul Funkhouser of California; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Melanie Elisabeth Siver

Melanie Elisabeth Siver, 19, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born March 21, 1980, in Las Vegas. A life time resident, she was a graduate of Vo Tech High School Class of 1998.

She is survived by her parents, Kathleen M. and Anthony F. Siver, one brother, Anthony R. Siver; her grandparents, Betty Siver, Jerrie and Richard Beam, all of Las Vegas; and her great-grandparents, Gan Bokel of Las Vegas and Estelle Jessome of Springfield, Ill.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. is handling arrangements.

John J. Taylor

John J. Taylor, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born July 18, 1923, in Provo, Utah. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired railroad computer worker and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; three daughters, Sharon Hardeman and Rhonda Drzymalski, both of Las Vegas and Dawna Taylor of Parma, Idaho; one son, John B. Taylor of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled from 9-11 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services were 11:30 a.m. in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Mary Catherine Trippy

Mary Catherine Trippy, 62, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born May 24, 1937, in Hutchinson, Kan. A resident for 25 years, she was an evidence clerk for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

She is survived by her husband Donald; one daughter, Lynn Trippy of Las Vegas; one son, Matthew Trippy of San Antonio, Texas; two brothers, Jame Karnes and John Karnes, both of Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Rose Finn of Las Crusas, N.M. and Joan Tomas of Tulsa Okla.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the LDS Chapel at Carrie and Walnut. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North is handling arrangements.

Warrick G. 'Woody' Woodard Sr.

Warrick G. Woody Woodard Sr, 59, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born June 15, 1940, in Goldsboro, N.C. A resident for five years, he was a retired second class petty officer, a Vietnam, Desert Storm and Lebanon War Navy veteran, a member of USS Missouri and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Maryland.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene D.; two sons, Warrick G. Woodard Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas and Harold Armentrout of Laurel, Maryland; three daughters, Karen W. Carter and Christina L. Mobley, both of Clayton, N.C. and Ann Marie Huffine of Sicily; two brothers, Ira Woodard of Delaware and Barney Woodard of Maryland; three sisters, Hazel Stokes and Mildred Johnson, both of North Carolina and Ann Schaich of Texas; and 11 grandchildren.
