Single parents often can't afford camp for their kids

Simone's mom would like to see Simone and her sister go to summer camp. "I would like for my girls for once in their childhood to experience camp," she wrote in a letter.

She is a single mother who cannot afford to send them on her own, she said. Like many other single parents in the valley, Simone's mother relies on help from the Sun Camp Fund to see that her children have a memorable childhood experience.

By sending donations to the Las Vegas Sun summer camp fund, many children whose parents can only pay half of the cost of camp, can go to camp with others.
