The purchase includes the Wet 'n Wild trademark and water parks in Las Vegas, Mexico and Brazil, Ogden said.
Universal kept the Wet 'n Wild park in Orlando, Fla., where it's expanding to compete with Walt Disney Co.
Ogden is a diverse company whose interests include aviation services and energy, in addition to its entertainment business. It had revenue of $1.69 billion in 1998.
Ogden currently owns a water amusement park in Silver Springs, Fla., and says it plans to acquire additional water parks prior to May, before the start of the summer season.
Universal Studios Recreation Group bought the Arlington, Texas-based Wet 'n Wild last October.
